Meet the Staff - Trevor Straight, Logistics and Operations Manager

When Jefferson County Food Bank Associations (JCFBA) decided it was time to create a hub for our food, someone needed to be at the helm to serve, organize, and steward the process.

Enter Trevor! The yard work pursuer at home, tomato and snap pea snacker, and relaxing enthusiast.

For many years, he worked at Costco where he learned effective distribution systems and managed teams at the depot (hub) for the whole Northwest Region. Trevor had hit a point where he wanted to work somewhere he wasn’t making money for a big company, but to support the mission of a non-profit organization. Working at Costco gave him the tools to help open a smaller warehouse for JCFBA.

When asked about why he works here, he said, “Honestly, I was job hunting, and I came across this opportunity to use my-self-proclaimed skillset with a non-profit. I feel lucky to have this opportunity to focus my job on something that can make a difference in people's lives.”

From orchestrating food rescues in 3 different counties, to establishing entirely new inventory systems, to sweeping the warehouse floor, no job is too big or small. Trevor has a talent for organizing things. He loved cleaning up the Tri Area food bank and helping it transition from a drive-through to a marketplace. He is most proud of setting up and organizing the Hub, the warehouse where all the trucks come in, gather the food for various food banks, and head off to help our community.

His favorite part of his job is getting creative, as he did when putting together systems and equipment to serve the “pop-up” food pantries. He likes that the job is well-rounded, with lots of different things to do, so he never gets bored.

When he’s not hard at work, Trevor tries to spend much of his time outside with his wife, Laura.
